In order to decrease the level of CO₂ emissions the major contribution asked to water pumps in new generation engines is to reduce the warm-up phase.

Traditional water pumps, cooling down the engine when it is still cold, prolong the heat-up phase: Saleri’s solution,  enables to “block” the pump outlet, therefore allowing the engine to reach faster the working temperature.

 The EECU (Electronic Engine Control Unit) though electrical impulses manages a vacuum actuator that is connected to a regulation valve. A membrane inside the actuator moves attracting the arm linked to the throttle valve, which closes.

 In this situation the water pump, even if working, does not generate any flow rate (not needed when engine is cold).
